Event Highlights: The Ivy Tech Community College Odyssey event was held at Tippecanoe Mall where Ivy Tech volunteer students, automotive and sustainable energy staff, and employees from participating businesses where available throughout the day to answer questions as guests visited the display area in the Community Commons.


Vehicles on display included the new Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius, BMW electric car, Ford propane truck, PHEV Prius conversion vehicle, racing Electric Go-Kart, and a Chevrolet S-10 electric conversion truck built by the students from Ivy Tech Automotive Department. Solar, wind and geo thermal displays from the Sustainable Energy Program where available for participants to view.

Event Highlights:
Greater Indiana Clean Cities is proud to announce the Ivy Tech
Community College Alternative Fuels and Renewable Energies Expo in the
Kohl’s Community Court at the Tippecanoe Mall on Friday, October 11th.

The Expo is presented in conjunction with the National Alternative
Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey. Representatives from Ivy Tech will be
available to answer questions about the college’s degree programs in
alternative fuels, automotive service, sustainable energy, home
technologies and bio-fuel science.  Educational presentations will occur
from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm throughout the day. The event is co-sponsored
by the Greater Indiana Clean Cities Coalition.

Representatives from energy and automotive industries as well as
educational partners will be available to answer questions about various
vehicle and educational displays.  Displays and vendors include Local
Propane Distributors, GICCC, Battery Electric Vehicles including the
Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt, Toyota Prius Plug in Hybrid provided by
Plug in Supply Inc. and E-V Conversion Vehicles.

National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey is a nationwide
celebration coordinated by the National Alternative Fuels Training
Consortium and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Cities Program.

Attendance: 1,200 consumers

Event Highlights: Ivy Tech Community College hosted vehicle and table displays inside the Tippecanoe Mall concourse. More than ten vehicles were provided by the Ivy Tech Community College Automotive Department, Ferrell Gas, EVA of Central Indiana, Midwest Electric Vehicles, and Cooper Farms. Displays included biodiesel processor and procedures, solar and wind energy, NAFTC promotional materials, Greater Indiana Clean Cities Alliance, Ferrell Gas, propane-powered engines, WLFI-TV 18 in West Lafayette, Indiana, and Ivy Tech Community College general information. Additionally, several industry experts spoke at the event. Presenters included representatives from Ferrell Gas, Central Indiana Clean Cities Alliance, Midwest Electric Vehicles, Electric Vehicle Association, EVA, and Solar and Wind Displays.

Event Highlights: Ivy Tech’s National AFV Day Odyssey was held at the Tippecanoe Mall and attracted hundreds of attendees with their vehicle displays, booths, presentations and discussions. Stations were set up to educate attendees on the benefits and applications of alternative fuels/energy. Presentations, educational activities and displays for the day included topics such as ethanol, biodiesel, hybrid electric, propane, CNG, geo-thermal, wind and solar. The Biodiesel Ethanol Coalition and their training trailer were also on-hand. Vehicles on display included PHEV Toyota Prius, 2008 Roush built Ford propane-powered pick-up truck, 16 different types of new alternative fuel vehicles, E85 custom promotional Tahoe from the ethanol coalition Central Indiana Clean Cities, Dixie Chopper, and two CNG vehicles. Ivy Tech Community College’s Automotive Program also sponsored an Automotive Career Day for 20 local high school students. Students were taken on tours to local service centers with the opportunity to hear presentations and ask questions related to the service industry.
