Inverter Reserve Tank Assembly

  • information
  • technical details

The reserve tank assembly is a transparent reservoir. The coolant circulates between the inverter, radiator assembly, inverter water pump assembly, and the hybrid vehicle transaxle assembly. This separate system provides the necessary cooling to the inverter so it does not overheat.

The reserve tank assembly serves as an access point for a technician to monitor the system's coolant flow. Manual temperature measurements taken from the access point may be compared to scan tool values. The comparisons may be used during diagnostics. The transparent tank allows the circulation to be monitored and evaluated. The entire system works together to cool the electronic control unit (ECU) within the inverter/converter and transaxle assembly and provide a means of supplying heat to the passenger compartment when that the internal combustion engine (ICE) is not in operation.
